FAQs

Who is Lisa Barr?

Hi, I'm Lisa Barr, an ex-Fortune 100 Silicon Valley executive and mentor - successful in my career, but I was looking for more from life, and I found it!

Now I coach high-achieving leaders and professionals, helping them hone their business edge, reduce stress, create time, up-level relationships, and attain the goals that mean the most to them, while maintaining life balance, so they can enjoy the success they've earned.

When I was leading teams, working on multi-million dollar projects in Silicon Valley, for years I knew I needed “life balance”, but I didn’t stop working long enough to prioritize acquiring it, and when the years of living on caffeine and adrenaline finally caught up with me, I was working so many hours that I had to hire people to do “my life” for me. My career had eclipsed all the activities that didn’t directly feed its goals. I’ll admit, at first it was great – it was so convenient to have the mail sorted, bills paid, house cleaned, fridge stocked, and meals prepared, but after a time, it felt empty. I didn’t feel like a “real person”, just a shell who paid other people to live my life for me. When the weekend finally came, if I wasn’t working, I was hiding out, just trying to catch my breath. I didn’t take personal calls – not even from family. Friends would invite me out, and I would pass. I didn’t have the mental energy to make any commitments other than the ones already in my calendar.

Sure, I was successful, but I would come home stressed, exhausted, and unable to wind down. With little energy left, I focused on relaxation techniques to mitigate insomnia, just so I could repeat everything the next day. And the next day. And the next day.

Living at that pace in a highly competitive and dynamic work environment will eventually end in burn out, and that is exactly what happened to me. Finally, I thought, “There’s got to be more to life than this.

Through coaching, I learned to put myself first, reduce my stress, and create more time for me, without sacrificing my professional goals. I realized that I had created my own stress through my thought patterns and belief systems and I learned to solve stress at the root. I discovered that our real power comes from the way we choose to think about things, and that we can choose the thoughts and belief systems that serve us, and let go of the ones that don’t.

I set and achieved amazing goals, but I was neglecting myself and living with stress instead of solving it. I was bound to a false belief system that the price of success was stress, and eventually, my joy was gone.

Now, I pay it forward. I show my clients how to thrive at the top of their professional game without sacrificing fulfillment in their personal lives, experiencing permanent change, so they can own their own trajectory, and create the life experience they want.

Are you going to try and pitch your services to me?

Many coaches are pitching from a place of fear or scarcity. It can seem loud and annoying. My approach is from a place of absolute vibrancy and value creation. This is a value-led or partnership-led conversation, not a sales-driven one.

At the end of our call we might decide to do a deeper dive together. And that’s going to involve jumping on a second complimentary, high-touch call. This invitation isn’t always extended.

We might observe an opportunity for potential partnership or collaboration, or I might send you off with an insight, resource, or invaluable introduction to someone in my network, or vice versa – and we are complete.

What is the intention of the 20-minute call?

To open a relationship, if there is alignment. For some, this call will stretch your thinking. If you’re not in a position to show up for 20 minutes, be fully present, and engage in a conversation that potentially has an insight to change the trajectory of your life and business, then, said with love and respect – this isn’t for you.

What is your company?

My boutique coaching and consulting company provides an in-depth, transformational experience that is uniquely curated for my clients, where I leverage my 20+ years of experience as an executive and mentor, and pair it with certified coaching concepts and tools that are based on brain science, physiology, and cognitive behavioral insights, synchronizing mindset awareness with tactical planning and execution of goals.

What is your background?

I’m an ex-Fortune 100 Silicon Valley executive & mentor, with over 20 years of experience and success. I’ve managed high-level projects for Bank of America and Oracle Corporation. As a Director of Global Accounts, I’ve consulted clients such as Apple, LinkedIn, Nvidia, Cisco, and Netflix. I was sought after for the relentless brand of excellence I infused into the projects, processes, and teams I led. I achieved the pinnacle of success in my field, yet, I was deeply unfulfilled in life. In fact, I quit my high-powered career at the top of my game, because I knew there must be something more — and I found it!

Now I pay it forward, helping other high-achievers discover, define, and attain that “something more”.

What do you do, specifically?

The client experience is highly customized. Depending on the program selected, I may work weekly with a client, focusing on one specific area, or we may work our way through an entire transformative curriculum that will bring about a holistic paradigm shift. For others, we meet just once a month for a high-touch session.

Typically, we’ll meet for one hour, and there will be some instructional value, and plenty of room for impromptu discussion about what’s on your mind. You may be invited to join an optional mastermind group, for a second touchpoint each week, and I’m available through a private Slack channel for unlimited online discussion, strategy and coaching.

What is coaching? How is it different from therapy?

What it is...

  • Coaching is about getting outside of your head, and understanding how your brain works.

  • It’s about realizing that you think thousands of thoughts a day, and you get to choose what thoughts to hold on to, and which ones to let go.

  • It’s based on proven cognitive psychology and physiology.

  • It’s about discovering that your thoughts trigger your feelings, and that your feelings inspire your actions. And, that you can learn to control your thoughts, and thus, your results.

  • It’s universal. It helps you gain clarity and purpose at any stage or level of success. It’s about what’s next for you.

  • It’s about strategically choosing the thoughts and belief systems that will help you shed the emotions and behaviors that are holding you back, while discovering the mindset that will catapult you forward to achieve your goals, and live the life you know you’re meant for.

What it's not...

  • Coaching isn’t therapy. While a therapist will listen and validate your feelings, I’ll listen and show you that your thoughts and feelings are your choices. I’ll challenge you to consider new ways of thinking, and engage your imagination to envision the best way to reach your goals.

  • It’s not counseling. I won’t give you generic rules and lists to live by. This is your unique journey. I’ll curate everything around where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go.

  • It’s not nebulous, or out of reach.

  • It’s not warm and fuzzy, law of attraction, pie in the sky talk.

  • It’s not theoretical. My insight comes with 20+ years of tangible, tactical experience as an executive leader and mentor.

  • It's not about looking back, it's about looking forward. While we may work through past events and belief systems, to dismantle thoughts that aren't serving you, the goal will always be to apply insights to the present, and the future.

I’m already successful, why would I need a coach?

I was wildly successful as a Silicon Valley leader and mentor. I wouldn't have thought I needed, or had time for, a coach. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I know from experience, many high-achievers struggle to maintain a balance of work and life, dealing with stress and time management issues, while trying to find fulfillment in their personal lives. I used to struggle with my share of these things, too. I've learned that even when I was most productive, I still had gaps - areas that I didn't typically focus on that needed a little more attention or strategy.

I help my clients holistically, to pause, reflect, and become more self-aware, reaching their full potential by learning how to reduce stress, create time, and define and achieve the goals that mean the most to them.

Coaching isn't just about becoming successful, it's also about, becoming more, because you're successful. It's about what's next. It's about owning your own trajectory. It's about balance, fulfillment and joy. If you're on the cusp of something new, if you're yearning for growth and change, or if you need help focusing a little on those gaps, then this is for you.

I’m a busy person, I barely have enough time for work, partner, and/or kids. How could I make time for coaching?

You may have tried multiple time management tools and techniques, but found that none of them could get to the heart of what you need. You may feel like you could be more efficient, or learn to delegate more. Maybe you have a problem saying, "no". These things may be true, but they are not at the heart of time management. I have found that most high-achievers who think they have too much on their plate, actually don't. I'll let you in on a simple but powerful secret: Time management isn't about how much time you have, or how many things you have to do. Everyone has the same 24 hours each day.

Time management is about managing your thoughts, your emotions, how you show up, and what you create with your time. Stress, anxiety, frustration, doubt, depression - these emotions are all "time-killers". I can help you discover and eradicate your time-killers, making you more productive, and helping you create more time to do the things you really want to do. I give my clients time.

Who are your clients?

  • High-achieving professionals, seeking personal and professional growth

  • Business owners and corporate leaders who want to expand and deepen their relatability and professional or personal relationships

  • Young leaders and mid-management professionals seeking to discover their full potential as leaders, mentors, and influencers with a focus on heart-led, servant-leadership

  • Business owners and corporate group leaders scaling up or down, seeking to maximize their relationships, inspire their teams powerfully, and manage cultural change within their organization

  • Sales leaders and executives who want to harness the power of thought to bolster their "sales mindset", close business confidently, and serve their clients powerfully

Why do your clients hire you?

  • To reach their full potential as a powerful heart-led leader and mentor

  • To navigate team or business scaling and maximize their influence in cultivating inspiring,  productive, and profitable team dynamics

  • To look within and set important personal and professional goals aligned with their deepest core values

  • To navigate, or cultivate, transition in their personal and professional lives

  • To join an exceptional community, participate in a powerful mastermind group, stay focused on what’s next, and gain support from like-minded professionals

My clients hire me because I have experience both in F100 companies and small businesses, working with F100 companies, and as a former executive and mentor, I’ve walked in shoes like theirs. I understand how important their time and efficiency is, and I know what they’re up against. I pair my past experience with powerful coaching concepts and tools and act as a catalyst to help my clients dream big, and make things happen, without the drama.

What makes you different from all the other coaches out there?

As a mentor, I always lead teams by showing, not by telling. I’m not trying to “sell” you something. My goal is always to add value. That’s why I offer a complimentary coaching session to support potential clients with results in advance of them ever becoming a paying client.

After our initial engagement, some of my clients choose to continue, but my goal is always to empower my clients with self-coaching concepts and tools so they can take control of their own trajectory and results, in a powerful way that is different from anything they’ve experienced before.

What services do you offer?

I work with my clients in the following ways. There are private 1:1 programs, group programs, a mastermind community, and unlimited access to me via Slack.

Private 1:1 Curated Coaching Program

This 3-month private 1:1 program will be curated just for you. Regardless of where you’ve been, where you are, or where you want to go, we’ll create this program together, to address what’s weighing you down, gain clarity about your future, or pave your road to success.

This program has a loose format, by design. It’s meant to be custom tailored to focus on a specific area, or to be impromptu every week, diving into immediate struggles, or recent events. We’ll draw upon concepts and tools as they come up and are useful in the moment.

1:1 High Value Monthly Touchpoint

This 6-month-minimum program includes a high value discussion for one hour per month, or two 30-minute calls per month.

This program is for you if you've been through a coaching program, and want an on-going touchpoint for discussion or accountability. Or, you have clear goals and objectives, but seek a high-level sounding board from someone who gets you and who won't hold back in our discussions. The program is tailored to your exact requirements from topics to schedule.

Trajectory 1:1 Self-Discovery Program

This 6-month private 1:1 program includes specific tools and concepts meant to take you on a self-discovery journey, looking first within, at the present, and then to your future. The topics are provided in a sequence that promotes deep learning about how your brain works, where your emotions come from and how your thoughts and belief systems affect your daily life, and your real-life results.

We’ll meet each week, and while most sessions include some instructional value, there’s still always room in the agenda to break into discussion about something currently weighing on your mind. Ultimately this program will be about defining, planning, and achieving your goals, but we start by unpacking where you are now, your personal core values, your strengths and struggles, how you might be in your own way, and what mindset you need to expand and move forward.

Pinnacle MASTERCLASS Group Program

This 3-month group program is a guided, transformative experience where you can work with me and leverage the knowledge of other high-achieving professionals who, like you, want to maximize their professional and personal success.

This program includes specific tools and concepts meant to take you on a self-discovery journey, looking first within, at the present, and then to your future. The topics are provided in a sequence that promotes deep learning about how your brain works, where your emotions come from, and how your thoughts and beliefs systems affect your daily life, and your real-life results.

Each week will include some instruction value, some open discussion, and live coaching by request. We’ll stay connected through the week via Slack where you can get unlimited online coaching and community.

Mastermind Groups

Weekly coaching programs include access to a Mastermind group, for a second, optional, touchpoint each week, where we’ll discuss various topics, and you can collaborate with like-minded professionals. Mastermind groups are also available through subscription for those not enrolled in a weekly program.

Your prices are expensive.

That depends.

If you want to grow into your new leadership role, and continue to advance your career, and your salary, is it worth the investment, to gain clarity and confidence to forge ahead powerfully?

If your business is growing, and you’re hiring and expanding, is it worth it to hone your abilities to lead and influence your teams, creating inspiring, productive, and profitable team dynamics, and ultimately building a culture that aligns with your core values?

If you’ve been continuously successful beyond measure, in your career, but your personal life has been sacrificed along the way, can you put a price on finally acquiring the balance you seek?

No one buys “coaching”. They buy into the bigger vision they have for their life and career. My clients have visions that are worth millions of dollars to them, and some of their visions are priceless.

What’s your refund policy?

There is a no-refund policy. I’m all in, and I love working with people who are all in, too. It’s called commitment. It’s either “Hell yes!” or “Hell no!”

The 200% Responsibility Policy

Great coaching relationships involve 200% responsibility. I promise you, that I will show up 100%. I will hide nothing. I will hold nothing back. I will give you a powerful, impactful, and uniquely life-changing experience.

On your side, I require the same 100%. Hide nothing. Hold nothing back. Take action, even when you’re unsure. Be vulnerable. Lean into your superpowers. Take risks. Be open to thinking differently. Be willing to deconstruct life-long belief systems. Mess up, screw up, fail! The road to success is paved with failures.

Why did you become a coach?

Growth inspires everything I do. Every experience gives us the opportunity to grow, improve and be our next best self.

As a corporate leader, I was passionate about growth at every level. My personal growth, the growth of my clients and team members, the growth of the collective, and the growth and evolution of every relationship. When we work and grow together there is an excitement and satisfaction that transcends ordinary work experiences. Sharing this journey creates a bond, builds loyalty, establishes friendships, and generally gives people a passion for what they are doing, what they are learning, and where they are going.

I became a coach to continue to invest in the growth of others, but on a different plane. I leverage my past experience as a leader and mentor to relate to where my clients are and what they're up against, but my passion is to help them define and achieve what's next for them.

As a coach, do you have your own coach?

Always. To consistently grow and expand, you have to be consistently curious and open to new ways of thinking, and to higher levels of support, even when access to that support requires extreme resourcefulness on your part, because what got you where you are today will not get you where you want to go.
